THE WEDNESDAY STUDIO

Watercolor and Pastel Artists at CHAW

Capitol Hill Art Walk a huge success

Last week-end the Capitol Hill Art League sponsored an “art walk,” where artists displayed (and sold) their works at their homes–either outside or inside or, sometimes, both.

On Saturday I set out to visit Wednesday Studio members Tara Hamilton and Carolyn Rondthaler who, I knew, had their art on display. On the way I encountered several of the 50+ art displays. Here are some pics:

I learned that this neighbor, talking to Tara, is a birder. She bought Tara’s painting of a goldfinch.
A number of people were interested in the art of Karen Zens (white hat), who shared a “booth” with Tara. Karen’s instagram account is Shamusspringer.
Carolyn Rondthaler (seated) had just told these visitors about Draw-a-Bird Day on this blog when I stopped by. Go to www.carolynrondthaler.com.
This is some of Carolyn’s art inside her house. On Sunday it rained, but many artists had a “rain plan” and invited visitors inside. Carolyn had much more art on display inside, so it worked out great, she said.
Artist Steve Mabley (blue shirt) was doing some plein air painting, while some of his finished paintings were on display on the fence. Go to www.stevemabley.art.
The dog was not interested in the art photos these women were sharing on their phones.
Lots of people were at each place I stopped. This was on the corner where Rindy O’Brien had her works displayed, but I didn’t get a photo of that. Bummer. Go to www.rindyobrien.com to see her fantastic photography.
I had missed my neighbor Karin Edgett on my art walk, so she invited me in on Monday morning. This is Karin in her studio. Go to KarinEdgett.art.
Karin had a lot of her art on display on her dining room table.
Karin paints both big and small. (And also has a beautiful house.)
