THE WEDNESDAY STUDIO

Watercolor and Pastel Artists at CHAW

CHAW Student Show bigger than ever

The current semiannual student show at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop is pretty awesome, and the opening reception on December 9 was awesome, too.

For starters, there were 39 works of art in the show–a record number. Each CHAW student (from the adult classes only–CHAW also has lots of classes for kids) is allowed to submit one piece of art that they did in class. Then, 70 people showed up for the reception–probably the biggest crowd ever.

DC artist June Linowitz was the juror for the show. In her remarks at the opening reception, she expressed her awe at the opportunities CHAW offers to the community. She also commented that determining the award winners was a difficult and challenging task because the quality of the work was so excellent.

One more thing that is great about this Student Show–five Wednesday Studio members received awards! Congratulations to Eileen Leahy, Martha Pope,. Vince Iannacchione, Lynne Mallonee Schlimm, and moi for receiving recognition.
