Tara’s Black-Headed Munia for February’s Hawaiian Birds

Oh my goodness. I just realized that the blog post I just published for February DAB-Day had the wrong bird for Tara Hamilton. I apologize, Tara.

Here is Tara’s beautiful Hawaiian bird that should have been included previously:

Tara Hamilton: Black-Headed Munia. Watercolor.

The black-headed munia is closely related to the  tricolored munia, but is now widely recognized as a separate species. It is a native of southeast Asia but was introduced to the Hawaiian Islands and is now a resident bird there. It’s about 4½ inches long.
