Our judge for the Winter Student Show was Alexandra Sherman, a very accomplished watercolorist and teacher. She has an MFA from the University of Wisconsin and has taught extensively throughout the DC area. It was very interesting to listen to her as she assessed the work on display–it always helps me to see things through the eyes of other artists. It was very clear during the judging process, that Alexandra found it difficult to decide on awards because the quality of the entries was so high.
But decide she did, and I am super happy to announce that Second Place went to Eileen Leahy for this landscape.
Eileen Leahy: “Summer Reflections.” Pastel on board.
Third Place was awarded to Vince Iannacchione for this strange and whimsical drawing.
Vince Iannacchione: “Double Exposure.” Carbon pencil over watercolor.
Linda Andreatta and Wan Lee received Honorable Mention Awards.
Linda Andreatta: “Summer Bloom.” Pastel.
Wan Lee: “Artichoke.” Watercolor.
I think the Wednesday Studio acquitted itself rather well this time around. Couldn’t be prouder!
