THE WEDNESDAY STUDIO

Watercolor and Pastel Artists at CHAW

Tamora Ilasat joins the Wednesday Studio

Welcome to DC artist Tamora Ilasat, the latest member of the Wednesday Studio.

Tamora notes that art has always been part of her life–she always “dabbled and took classes.” But about 15 years ago, while she was working full time, she finished her degree in art at American University, with a major in printmaking.

I learned that the Wednesday Studio is the latest of a lifetime of art classes Tamora has been in, including several two-week study groups in Italy and classes at the Corcoran School of Art, where she became the assistant director of Corcoran’s Artreach program.

Tamora says most of her work is mixed media–pen and ink with pastel or collage. But she also paints in acrylics and is “thinking about breaking out the oils.” Here are some of her pieces:

Tamora Ilasat: Tatiana. Acrylic on canvas.
Tamora Ilisat: Allee. Monoprint.
Tamora Ilasat: Remembrance. Mixed media on paper.
Tamora Ilasat: Ministry. Acrylic and charcoal on paper.
Tamora Ilasat. Raven. Phototransfer and acrylic on canvas.
Tamora Ilasat: Olympia Redux. Acrylic and collage on canvas.
Tamora Ilasat. Figure Study 3. Acrylic on paper.
