“Ornaments” was the theme for the December challenge of the Capitol Hill Art League
Four Wednesday Studio artists got up the gumption this December to submit art pieces to the monthly challenge sponsored by the Capitol Hill Art League. I say “got up the gumption” because everyone I know (including these four gumptional artists) was so busy in December.
Despite the pandemic, holiday busyness abounded. Or maybe because of the pandemic. I myself did things I don’t usually or, actually, never do. Like a Christmas cookie exchange. And caroling. And traipsing over to see the National Tree at the Capitol.
Anyway, Tara, Karen, Carolyn, and Nancy all found the time to submit these items to the CHAL challenge:
Tara Hamilton: Friends as Ornaments, Illustrated. iPad. Tara created this art to illustrate a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson: “The ornaments of a house are the friends who frequent it.”Karen Van Allen: Ornamental Doodle. Markers on paper.Carolyn Rondthaler: Easel made from a kit. Carolyn Rondthaler: Plein Air Teddy. Watercolor. This is a painting Carolyn made this year of a little (3″ tall) teddy bear she dressed up years ago. She had added the beret, scarf, and painting supplies to make him a plein air artist teddy bear. Nancy Arbuthnot: Christmas Reflections. Watercolor.
