“Freedom” and “Heat” were recent themes of the Capitol Hill Art League’s monthly challenges
Every month the Capitol Hill Art League announces a theme and invites its members to submit art relating to it. Here are the works from Wednesday Studio members from July and August.
July: Freedom
Carolyn Rondthaler: Free Skate. Photography. Carolyn wrote, “I can’t resist this picture of my grandson and his friends at a ‘free skate’—the freedom of childhood!”
August: Heat
Tara Hamilton: Summer in Elm Grove Park, Wisconsin. Watercolor.Carolyn Rondthaler: Hiroshima August 6, 1945. Watercolor. Carolyn said, “This is a painting inspired by a map of the effects of the atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. The brown areas are rivers and the broken line at the top is a railroad. The dot is the epicenter.”
