THE WEDNESDAY STUDIO

Watercolor and Pastel Artists at CHAW

“Freedom” and “Heat” were recent themes of the Capitol Hill Art League’s monthly challenges

Every month the Capitol Hill Art League announces a theme and invites its members to submit art relating to it. Here are the works from Wednesday Studio members from July and August.

July: Freedom

Carolyn Rondthaler: Free Skate. Photography. Carolyn wrote, “I can’t resist this picture of my grandson and his friends at a ‘free skate’—the freedom of childhood!”

August: Heat

Tara Hamilton: Summer in Elm Grove Park, Wisconsin. Watercolor.
Carolyn Rondthaler: Hiroshima August 6, 1945. Watercolor. Carolyn said, “This is a painting inspired by a map of the effects of the atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. The brown areas are rivers and the broken line at the top is a railroad. The dot is the epicenter.”
