Birds of Costa Rica featured in July DAB-Day

The Draw-a-Bird Day theme this month is the birds of Costa Rica.

Wikipedia informs us that Costa Rica, which is smaller than the state of West Virginia, has the greatest density of birds of any country in the Americas. Costa Rica’s official catalog of birds, published by, what else, a bird committee, lists 948 species. All I can say is WOW.

Here are the birds submitted for July Draw-a-Bird Day:

Tara Hamilton: Blue-Vented Hummingbird. Watercolor.
Linda Norton. Resplendent Quetzal. Multimedia. [I include this bird from works given to us previously by Wednesday Studio member Linda Norton, whom we lost unexpectedly in 2021. She contributed this bird to the June 2020 Draw-a-Bird Day blog post. We miss Linda.]
Mara P., age 5: Clay-Colored Thrush. Watercolor. [National bird of Costa Rica.]
Ezra P., age 8: Toucan. Acrylic.
Tom Eichenberger: Magpie Jay. Acrylic.
Judith Davis: Great Egret. Photography.
Linda Andreatta: Hummingbird. Pastel.
Jim Eichenberger: Oyster Catcher with Young. Watercolor and tempura.
Vera A., age 13: Scarlet Macaw. Watercolor.
Madeleine A., age 11. Leaf Bird.
Anne Shields: Black-Throated Trogon. Pastel.
Carolyn Rondthaler: Little Blue Heron. Mixed media, from photo by Dario Sanches.
Pat Stocks: Toucan. Pencil.
Marian Wiseman: Scarlet Macaw. Watercolor and pencil.

That last reply to you was from me. Not sure why they think I am anonymous

Ah, Marian! My blogmate/friend, Kerfe Roig, does Draw-a-Bird, which is what led me to find your blog. Here is Kerfe’s entry for July:
