Last week-end was the fourth annual Art Walk sponsored by the Capitol Hill Art League along with some other community organizations, including the Hill Rag, which published a map of all the artist locations.
Six members of the Wednesday Studio were among about 150 artists who displayed their art on sidewalks, fences, parking pads, alleyways, and yards.
Carolyn Rondthaler shared these comments about her experience: “I had a great time doing it, and there was fairly steady traffic. Because I am on a one-way street that is one block long, there was no ‘random’ traffic. People who came had checked it out and were there on purpose, so I did make a lot of sales on both days, mostly cards. I had a LOT of interesting conversations—about art and about the neighborhood.”
Here’s Carolyn Rondthaler at her Art Walk location outside her house. These happy customers just bought one of Carolyn’s labyrinth paintings. Looks like her “Hand Labyrinth,” one of my favorites.Kay Elsasser joined several other artists in front of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop.Look’s like Kay’s sweetheart Joe helped her pack up at the end of day two.Tara Hamilton set up again this year on the parking pad behind her house.Joining Tara were artists Karen Zens (center) and Kimberly King (Tara’s sister).Setting up took a lot of energy. This is the “before” picture on the sidewalk in front of Marian Wiseman’s house. Lynne Mallonee Schlimm (left) and Anne Shields joined Tom Eichenberger and Marian at this location. Here’s what our display looked like once it was all set up. Plus notecards and a bin of unframed paintings. This is a “during” photo. Yes, it’s true—we partied a little. Sandy Hussy (far right), a long-time friend and former classmate at CHAW, stopped by on her Art Walk trek. That’s Lynne Schlimm on the left and Anne Shields in the middle.
