THE WEDNESDAY STUDIO

Watercolor and Pastel Artists at CHAW

October birds are ready for Halloween

For this month’s Draw-a-Bird Day, our artists submitted birds that are orange and/or black, a theme chosen by Anne Shields as appropriate for October, Halloween month. Three Wednesday Studio watercolorists chose coincidentally painted blackburnian warblers.

Tom Eichenberger: American Robin. Acrylic.
Lynne Mallonee Schlimm: Blackburnian Warbler. Watercolor.
Tara Hamilton: Blackburnian Warbler. Watercolor.
Kay Elsasser: Blackburnian Warbler. Watercolor pencil.
Martha Larkin: Baltimore Oriole. Acrylic.
Jim Eichenberger: Oystercatcher Family. Watercolor and tempera.
Linda Eichenberger: Barnacle Goose. Photography. [At Nymphenburg Palace, Munich.]
Barb Zimmer: American Redstart. Watercolor.
Anne Shields: Ruddy Turnstone. Pastel.
Susan Burdick: Bullock’s Oriole—BOO. Digital colored pencil (Adobe Fresco on iPad Pro).
Marian Wiseman: Eastern Towhee. Watercolor. [Every April we have an Eastern Towhee in our garden for a few days; the female is brown where the male is black.]

Once again, I am so impressed by all the different birds on display. And it’s fun to see work by new artists! Congratulations to all.
