The theme for June 2026 Draw-a-Bird Day is songbirds. I learned that songbirds are the largest suborder of passerines: There are 4,000+ species of songbirds, ranging in size from the tiny golden-crowned kinglet to the raven.
Songbirds really struck a chord with everyone, and we have 15 birds for June. Ironically, even though there are 4,000+ species of songbirds, we have two birds that have double submissions. I think this shows that DAB-Day people are in sync.
Special greetings to Beth Miller, who submitted two bird photographs for her DAB-Day debut. Welcome, Beth!

Now she is in Africa and saw this bird in person, in Zimbabwe. She had already sent me her Baltimore oriole for June DAB-Day, but she asked if this could be an extra songbird this month because of her exciting sighting. And yes, it’s a songbird!]J.H.
