The Potomac Valley Watercolorists selection committee has approved Wednesday Studio artist Tara Hamilton to be a PVW member. The selection process is a rigorous one: After an applicant submits three framed paintings that were completed within the last two years, the committee looks for technical ability, originality, overall presentation, and consistency in making its choices. The work must be “original, conceived by the artist, using the artist’s own resources, and executed without the assistance of an instructor.”
But that’s not all! The applicant also has to provide documentation that he or she has had three different watercolor pieces accepted in three juried shows (with three different judges) within the last two years. Plus a resume of one’s “art background.” So, no pressure.
Tara joins Wednesday Studio member Wan Lee, who was selected to join PVW last year.
Below are three of Tara’s watercolors.
