On Friday I attended the open house for the summer 2017 art show in the office gallery of Nishan Halim, a Capitol Hill dentist. Since opening his practice two years ago, Dr. Halim, has featured the work of a number of artists, typically opening a new show every two or three months.
Currently, 12 watercolors by Tara and 8 pastel paintings by Martha are on display in the office’s waiting room, reception area, and exam rooms.
Of these 20 works, I had previously seen only a few and, as always, I was wowed. Here are four watercolors by Tara and four pastels by Martha from the show.
Martha Pope: Marsh View to Sea Island. Pastel.
Tara Hamilton: Tall Timbers. Watercolor.
Martha Pope: Storm over the Marsh. Pastel.
Tara Hamilton: Potomac. Watercolor.
Martha Pope: Clearing Skies. Pastel.
Tara Hamilton: Azalea Time #2. Watercolor.
Martha Pope: After the Rain. Pastel.
Tara Hamilton: Sunlit. Watercolor.
If you get a chance, stop by Dr. Halim’s office gallery at 27 6th Street NE. I promise you may look at the art without getting a filling.
