A new exhibit sponsored by the Capitol Hill Arts League opens today, March 2, in the CHAW gallery. The juror for the show was Anke Van Wagenberg, chief curator at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, Maryland.
Anne Shields, Tara Hamilton, and Nancy Arbuthnot have works in the show, which is titled “HOME.”
I happened to see the show as it was being hung in the gallery earlier this week. At the time I didn’t know the show had a theme, and as I circled the gallery and saw all of the art I was struck with how many of the paintings showed houses and porches and lovely inviting places.
Here is one of the three pieces Anne has in the exhibit. Her other two are watercolors titled Home Goods and Tax Time.
Anne Shields: Home for the Birds. Pastel.
This is Tara’s watercolor in the exhibit:
Tara Hamilton: Home Fires. Watercolor.
In addition to the one shown below, the exhibit has another watercolor by Nancy, titled Once in Provence.
Nancy Arbuthnot: Wanderer. Watercolor.
The opening reception is March 2, from 5 to 7 pm at CHAW, 545 7th Street, SE, in Washington. The wine is free!
