Vince Iannacchione: Winged Gorgon. Gouache and charcoal on Sicilian papyrus. Vince checked with me on what qualifies as a bird. I told him DAB-Day includes anything that flies, has wings, or sounds like a bird–basically, the restrictions are very liberal. So, we welcome this bird art from Vince, which shows the center of the flag of Sicily. Vince notes that this image is the triskelion (trinacria), the winged head of Medusa (Gorgon) and three wheat ears. The three bent legs allegedly represent the three points of the triangular shape of the island of Sicily.
