THE WEDNESDAY STUDIO

Watercolor and Pastel Artists at CHAW

“Love” was the February art challenge for Capitol Hill Art League

CHAL’s art challenge last month was–quite appropriately, given that February is the month for Valentine’s Day–“love.” These were the contributions from Wednesday Studio members:

This first photo shows eight individual paper dolls that Carolyn Rondthaler painted front and back. (She propped them up on the mantel for this pic.) You don’t have to look too closely to see the distinctions–mostly in the faces. Carolyn says she used to make such dolls as valentine cards for some special people, but hadn’t done it for several years and just got back to it this year.

Carolyn Rondthaler: Labyrinth. Watercolor.
Tara Hamilton: True Love, Deacon and Lambchop. Watercolor.
Tara Hamilton: Cupcake Love. Watercolor.
Karen Van Allen: Love Card. Acrylic on paper.
Karen Van Allen: Managing Love. Acrylic collage. Karen explained that this is a tiny house a la that of Diego Rivera and Frieda Kahlo.
