Wednesday Studio members pay tribute to Linda Norton
On October 16 we said our final goodbyes to Linda, our friend and fellow artist, who died unexpectedly in January from complications of acute leukemia. A memorial service was delayed until now because of the pandemic.
Linda’s husband, Randy, had asked the Wednesday Studio to paint the box that would hold her ashes. After some deliberation, we agreed that each of us would paint or draw a bird. Linda had contributed a bird every month to the Wednesday Studio’s Draw-a-Bird Day. Lynne Mallonee Schlimm took on the task of putting our individual birds on the box.
The service for Linda was a wonderful celebration of her life. Among the five individuals who delivered eulogies, Lynne spoke for all of us. She talked about Linda’s vivacious personality and artistic talent, how she embraced both people and art when sketching while on trips, and most of all, how we miss her.
Below is a photo of the box and individual photos of all the birds that decorated five sides of it.
