Honoring Ukraine with Birds on April Draw-a-Bird Day

This month we wanted to pay tribute to Ukraine, and to its people who are so unjustly suffering. All of the birds in this blog post are birds of Ukraine.

Tom Eichenberger: Black-Tailed Godwit. Markers.
Linda Andreatta: Black-Necked Grebe. Pastel.
Eileen Leahy: Gray Partridge. Mixed media bird, mounted on pastel background.
Chalk drawing of painting by Marya Prymachenko, renowned Ukrainian artist. See photo of this work, by her, below. The sidewalk art was discovered by Jim Eichenberger in Culver City, California.
Marya Prymachenko (1908-1998). Unknown title.
Patricia Flory Stocks: Commom Cuckoo. Pastel.
Carolyn Rondthaler: European Turtle Dove. Watercolor and pencil.
Susan Burdick: White Stork. Digital watercolor and graphite (Sketches Pro). [With Ukraine flag colors as background, Susan said she placed her bird atop a pile of rubble as a reminder to pray for the innocents thrown suddenly and brutally into chaos.]
Tara Hamilton: Red-Crested Pochard. Watercolor.
Martha Pope: Black Stork. Mixed media.
Lynne Mallonee Schlimm: Western Swamphen. Watercolor.
Judith Davis: Caspian Terns. Matte acrylic.
Jim Eichenberger: Black-Bellied Sandgrouse. Pastel and colored pencil.
